Overstayed Visa of 4 months, any punishment? 1 Year, 1 Month ago

I overstayed my Canadian visa for 4 months and I went back to Mexico.
I asked for a new visa and they asked me to restore my status paying a certain amount of money. I am now waiting for the answer and then want to re-apply for a new visa.
Do you think i will be able to get it and if yes, how long the whole procedure will take before I can get it? Or do you think I will get a refusal or any punishment for my overstay?

They will not punish you, because you came back.
The most probably they will issue a new visa, although nobody can guarantee it.
