Canadian government and CIC starts a campaign against immigration fraud

The Canadian government has started a campaign in order to help prevent immigration fraud and to reduce the number of immigration swindles being perpetrated.

Ottawa, May the 5^th, 2009 - the victims of unethical and dishonest behavior of the immigration representatives are invited to participate in an on-line survey in order to help the government of Canada to avoid the swindle and other related disturbances.

During the following two weeks, the survey is available on the CIC website. It will be the part of the campaign that aims to report to immigrants about how to protect themselves against the false requirements and claims from the dishonest immigration consultants or unethical representatives. The information gathered will be used for improving the warning messages to potential immigrants.

Amendments to the Law on Citizenship

Minister Kenney of Citizenship and Immigration has announced that the new law on citizenship is in action.

"The new Law on Citizenship of Canada comes into effect today", said the Immigration Minister Jason Kenney. The law restores and gives citizenship to those people who have lost or didn't received it because of outdated terms in the past legislation.

Support Refugees

The Government of Canada, CIC a and the Anglican Church of Canada, promote the idea that Canadians could sponsor the refugees.

The Government of Canada and the Anglican dioceses across the country hope to welcome up to 50 refugee families over the next two years through a project, which was announced today by Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney and Archbishop Fred Hiltz, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada.

Among the immigration consultants there a lot of people in good faith, but under current conditions the system is far from perfect, which means it's perfect for fraudsters' activities.
