Fraud immigration representatives
Canadian government and Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) starts a campaign against immigration fraud
The Canadian government has started a campaign in order to help prevent immigration fraud and to reduce the number of immigration Canada swindles being perpetrated.
Ottawa, May the 5th , 2009 - the victims of unethical and dishonest behavior of the immigration representatives are invited to participate in an on-line survey in order to help the government of Canada to avoid the swindle and other related disturbances.
During the following two weeks, the survey is available on the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website. It will be the part of the campaign that aims to report to immigrants about how to protect themselves against the false requirements and claims from the dishonest immigration consultants or unethical representatives. The information gathered will be used for improving the warning messages to potential immigrants.
"I heard many alarming stories of that how people were accepted by the dishonest immigration consultants or by unethical representatives, such as labour, students or live- in caregiver recruiters" said Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism.
"Do not make an error - the government will lead for the execution of the law, when immigration fraud is proven. But we would prefer to prevent the misdeed in the first place, in order to protect the integrity of Canada's immigration system and also to protect people from harm," said Minister Kenney, who recently hosted a town hall meeting with the ethnic members of the Toronto's Community. A similar town hall meeting will be carried out in Vancouver.
To go to the survey, use www.cic.gc.ca.
It will take you about 10 minutes to complete the survey and it will be accessible on the CIC website until May the 17th
The information, gathered from the meetings and the survey, will define a better picture and the existing problems. It will also generalize the efforts for preventing the immigration scams. The survey is voluntary, confidential and will not inquire personal information, such as name or address, from the people, which participate. It is not developed as a tool that will lead to the execution of the law or will deal with the individual cases, thus people, which assume that they were victims of scams or dishonest manipulation must address to the police or other related authorities.
